The eldest son of Senator Mikhail Ivanovich Donaurov , for whom Quarenghi built the estate of Zhernovka near Petersburg .
After graduating from the Corps of Pages P. M. Donaurov in 1819, he began service as a standard-cadet in the Life Guards Horse Regiment ; In 1828 he was promoted to headquarters. Participated in the suppression of the Polish uprising .
Since 1832 in the civil service. In 1833 he was granted the court title of chamberlain . From 1836 - official on special assignments under the Minister of War. In 1842-1851 he held the position of the Vladimir civil governor . In 1851-1855 he was the civil governor of St. Petersburg [1] .
From 1851 to 1855 he was a member of the Board of Trustees of public charity institutions in St. Petersburg [2] . Since 1856, Comrade State Comptroller , since 1855 Senator .
He died in St. Petersburg. He was buried at the Tikhvin cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Monastery [3] .
The wife (from 04/28/1829) is Natalia Alekseevna Khitrovo (1804–1863), the maid of honor to the court, the daughter of the state controller A. Z. Khitrovo . Crowned in St. Petersburg in St. Isaac's Cathedral [4] . In the marriage had four sons, of whom Alexey was promoted to the rank of general.
