Competition Results
Boxing
Boxing competitions were held in the playoffs. To win the Olympic tournament, the boxer had to win from four to six victories, depending on the draw of the competitions and the weight category. Both athletes who lost in the semifinal matches became the owners of bronze awards. Boxing representatives, as in previous Games, made up most of the Uganda team. At the Games in Mexico City, Ugandan boxers were represented in record for themselves 8 of 11 weight categories. As a result of the competition, two boxers at once were able to become owners of Olympic awards, and these medals were the first in the history of Uganda to perform at the Olympic Games. Close to winning the medal were two more Ugandan boxers, but both lost in the quarter-finals.
