Lev Gennadievich Voronin (born June 8, 1971 , Astrakhan ) is a Soviet and Russian handball player , coach, sports functionary. Olympic champion in 2000 , world champion in 1997, European champion in 1996. Honored Master of Sports of Russia (1997). He played over 100 matches for the Russian national team. Currently - General Director of the Russian Handball Federation . Cavalier of the Order of Friendship (2001).

In Russia, he played for the Dynamo Astrakhan , in which he became a prize-winner of the championships of the USSR and Russia. In 1998, already being the world and European champion in the Russian national team , he left for Germany, where for 10 years he played for the Friesenheim club handball team from the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein , which performed in the second Bundesliga. In 2008, he returned to Russia and played for the Dawn of the Caspian Sea (the former Astrakhan Dynamo) for half a season 2008/09.
From January 2009 to the summer of 2010, he was the head coach of the Zarya Caspiya handball club.
Since 2010 he has been a coach of the Perm Bears handball club. In the 2015/16 season, the Perm club took second place in the Russian championship. In 2015, he became an assistant to the head coach of the Russian men's team Dmitry Torganov, after the 2017 World Cup, he left his post in the team to concentrate on working in the Russian Handball Federation.
Since July 2016, he was the Acting General Director of the Russian Handball Federation, replacing Mikhail Kryuchkov in this post [1] . In December 2016, he was approved for this position during the reporting conference of the FGR [2] .
