In July 2012, Russian Railways announced the work of a special Russian-Ukrainian working commission at the intergovernmental level to delineate the rights of Russia and Ukraine to the property of railway sections passing through the territory of Ukraine and to register the company’s rights to it. So far, Russian Railways has unofficially leased the station and railway lines from the local village council, due to the fact that the balance of the disputed 37-kilometer section and the property on it has not yet been determined. The administration of the Luhansk region suggests that after registration of property rights in accordance with Ukrainian legislation, Russian Railways will be able to conclude a long-term rental contract for this property. At the same time, according to the press, another option is also possible: Russian Railways offer, by exchanging border areas, to transfer the state border of Russia and Ukraine so that the railway and station are completely on the Russian side [4] .
Commercial operations are formally permitted at the station — selling passenger tickets, receiving and delivering wagon consignments (access roads) [5] , however, passenger trains do not have stops here due to the lack of a border control point [4] , which is inconvenient for local residents who are used to getting to the district center Melovoye by electric trains [6] .
The route of electric trains of the South-Eastern Railway, which previously passed through Zorinovka to Chertkovo, is currently shortened to the station Gartmashevka, located on Russian territory.

| Workaround | |
Until 2014, the construction of the Prokhorovka – Zhuravka – Chertkovo – Bataysk railway line with a length of 748 kilometers was considered [7] , which, in addition to solving the problems of increasing the throughput of the Center – South railways, should also solve the problem of bypassing the territory of Ukraine . Construction was supposed to begin in 2018 due to the federal target program [8] .
Later, it was decided to build a 137 km bypass between the adjoining stations Zhuravka ( SEZhD ) and Millerovo ( SKZhD ). In 2015, the construction of the railway was started by the forces of the Russian railway forces and railway services. Work on the construction of a railway bypass was completed in August 2017 [9] . On September 20, 2017, freight trains began to run along the new line. On December 10, all long-distance trains began to run along the new line. In January 2018, the Gartmashevka (excl.) - Chertkovo (exc.) Section was closed to train traffic. The odd route of the Zhuravka-Gartmashevka section has been dismantled, and the Gartmashevka station itself is now a park of the Kantemirovka station. In April 2018, work began on the dismantling of the Gartmashevka (excl.) - Chertkovo section (excl.). After its dismantling, dead-end branches Zhuravka-Gartmashevka and Chertkovo-Bochenkovo are formed, on which suburban traffic will be saved, as well as export work to Malchevskaya and Kantemirovka stations. A reserve base is planned in the Gartmashevsky park of Kantemirovka station. Also - in February 2018, an odd path was examined on the Chertkovo - Bochenkovo section.

Several wagons rolled over, several dozen people were injured, in the hospital, one conductor died from the wounds received. Repair and restoration work was carried out until the next morning. [10]
