The Prime Minister of Mauritius is the head of government and the executive branch of Mauritius . The president appoints the leader of the party of the parliamentary majority to the post of prime minister. Other ministers are appointed by the president on the advice of the prime minister. The government is collectively accountable to parliament . If the latter passes a vote of no confidence, the government resigns or the president, on the advice of the prime minister, dissolves parliament and calls for early elections [1] .
