Fontvieille ( fr. Fontvieille ) is a commune in the south-east of France in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region , department of Bouches-du-Rhone , Arles , canton of Salon-de-Provence-1 [1] .

Content

History

The city community (commune) Fontvieille arose in 1790 as a result of its exit from the city community of neighboring Arles . Fontvieille is located in the southern part of France and is part of the canton of Arles-Est (Arles-Est) department of Bush-du-Rhone in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region . The city lies to the left of the Rhone , on the edge of Alpilia (" Little Alps " up to 400 meters above sea level), 8 kilometers northeast of Arles.

In 2006, the population was 3,417. The population density is 85 people / km². The population of the commune in 2011 was 3670 people [5] , and in 2012 - 3653 people [4] .

Economics

The surroundings of Fontvieille are famous for the excellent olive oil produced here.

In 2010, out of 2192 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years old), 1541 were economically active , 651 were inactive (activity indicator 70.3%, in 1999 - 71.1%). Out of 1541 active able-bodied residents, 1368 people worked (721 men and 647 women), 173 were unemployed (70 men and 103 women). Among 651 able-bodied inactive citizens, 155 were pupils or students , 287 were pensioners , and another 209 were inactive for other reasons [7] [8] .

Throughout 2010, there were 1,662 taxable households in the commune , in which 3,514.5 people lived. In this case, the median income was 19 thousand 741 euros per taxpayer [9] .

To the south of the city, on a low hill, is the Moulin Alfons Daudet windmill, which nowadays houses a museum. According to legend, this mill was bought and the famous French writer A. Daudet lived in it for a long time. The mill was built in 1814 and ground grain until 1915 . Moulin Alphonse Daudet is the only surviving tower windmill in the area.
