Biography
He began his career at Defensor Sporting . In 1995-1998 played for the Argentinean Independente , in which he won the 1995 Libertadores Super Cup .
The period from 1998 to 2000, when Alves played for Nacional , became for the player one of the most successful in his career. Alves twice became the champion of Uruguay , and in 1999, as part of the national team of Uruguay, he reached the final of the America's Cup . In the same year, he became the top scorer of the national championship and, according to the sports Internet network of Uruguay, he was elected the best player in Uruguay in 1999.
From 2000 to 2002, Alves played for the Greek Olympiacos and won the Greek Championship twice. After a short and very successful return in 2003 to Nacional, in the second half of that year, Alves became the champion of the Aperture of Mexico in Pachuca .
