History
The Arrows team was created by Jack Oliver who left Shadow . Together with him, designers Tony Southgate, Dave Woss and pilot Riccardo Patrese came to the team.
The FA1 chassis was created by Southgate in two months, the team even missed the first stage of the Championship - 1978 . At the second stage, only one car was exhibited in Zhakarepagua . In the third race, a second one was added to him, run by Rolf Stommelen . The car was well designed and was able to score points already in its third race. At the Swedish Grand Prix, Patrese managed to finish second.
However, in Long Beach , Shadow DN9 appeared - an almost exact copy of Arrows FA1 and the owners of Shadow sued the designers and the Arrows team . And although Southgate tried to make excuses that this chassis was designed by him, the court decided to cease further use of FA1. The team urgently had to create a new car - Arrows A1 .
