Summary
During the skirmish of the detachment of Sovereign Osval, who was heading for Kayr, with the goblins, the knight of Huma was stunned. Having regained consciousness, he frees the minotaur Case from the goblin captivity, and then he meets a dragon (Guinez), who agrees to give them a lift. On the way, he experiences a battle with War Minister Takhisis - Krinas. Huma and Kaz are participating in battles in the vicinity of the ruined Kayr; in the Huma camp, he meets Guinness now in human form. Then he meets an old friend of Magius, who has left the renegade mage Galan Dracos. After the defeat of the knights, he leads Hume and Kaz to his tower in Ergot. There he tells Hume that the key to ending the war is on a mountain peak in the west or southwest. Both Huma and Kaz are sent there, but in attempts to escape from the pursuit of the ogres, they are separated.
Huma meets the knights and reaches almost to Caergot, but is captured. Magius frees him and continues to lead southwest. On the way, they get to the knight's outpost. Soon, the knights seized in the forests of Kas and Hume manage to persuade them to let him go with him.
Having reached the mountains (judging by the text, the heroes wander through a deserted area, but actually cross the whole of Ergot from end to end), the company divides in search of a path and Huma ends up in the Paladine Temple, where Guinness sends him to the test. Huma fights the dragon Ogneduv, captured by the god Habakuk, and wins, but the magic mirror takes him to Solamnia, in the vicinity of Vingaard.
There, Huma learns that the Grand Master Sovereign died. Meanwhile, enemies approach the city from the east, west and south, and sovereign Oswal also falls ill. At his bed in the temple of Paladine Huma, Renard finds himself, who turned out to be a traitor and servant of the god Morgion. Renard tells Hume that he is his uncle and killed his mother to become a knight; he also killed Treyk. After this, Renard hides through a secret passage.
Oswal recovers and becomes the new Grand Master. Huma again goes to the mountains. Along the way, he meets Renard, sowing confusion among the peasants, and defeats him in a duel.
Having regained consciousness, Huma again finds himself in the cave of Ogneduva. He picks up the Sword of Tears and Suffering from the dragon’s treasury, but an old man in a gray cloak (probably the god Paladine himself) persuades Huma to abandon the treacherous weapon. Then the elder takes him to the Duncan's Forge Golden Hands (although in reality he has one silver hand), where Dragon Spears are made. Huma meets Magius and Case again. On horseback, accompanied by a silver dragon, they carry spears into the Wingaard Tower. On the way, Huma on the dragon again encounters Krinas; as a result of the battle, dragons fall to the ground. Having regained consciousness, Huma continues the fight with Krinas, but he turns out to be immortal and only thanks to the time of the time of the arrival of Kas and the dragon, Huma manages to win the final victory. Meanwhile, the Takhisis guards abduct Magius.
On the way, the company meets Sovereign Eivandale and he decides not to transfer the Spears to the emperor, but to help deliver them to Solamnia. Several other dragons are participating in this. There, Sovereign Oswal wants to make as many copies of these as possible, but the knights do not share his enthusiasm and he decides to limit himself to twenty. But a huge army of ogres, people, goblins, and hundreds of dragons are advancing on the city under the command of Galan Dracos.
Hume is one of the servants of Dracos, who reveals to him the refuge of his master (motivating it by the fact that his patron god Nuitari, de, wants good and not evil, like his mother Takhisis). Meanwhile, Duncan delivers many Spears to Wingaard and the powers of the knights increase significantly. Their faith, thanks to the victories of Huma and the volunteers accompanying him, is also strengthened. In the meantime, Gwynes admits to Hume that, firstly, she is a dragon, and secondly, she loves him. At this time, Dracos appears, in front of Huma, kills Magius and, leaving his body, is hiding. Huma sets off for the Drakos Citadel in the mountains. With the help of black magicians, he finds Dracos, who teaches the dragon Cyan the Bloodbane to penetrate other people's thoughts. Dracos captures Hume.
While he is preparing the coming of Takhisis, Huma is freed with the help of the staff of Magius and smashes the emerald ball used by the sorcerer to create the portal with the same staff. In despair, Dracos commits suicide. Huma flees from the crumbling citadel of Guinea. Through the portal, Takhisis arrives at Krynn. In the last battle, Huma severely injures Takhisis, but Guinez dies (Huma barely manages to confess her love). Threatening Takhisis with the capture of Huma, she demands that she get out of Krynn, take away all her dragons and swear that they will no longer appear on Krynn. With the help of Case Huma, she frees her from the glaring spear. Takhisis fulfills the oath and leaves, but Huma perishes.
