Uhnal (from German: Hufnagel through Polish. Hufnal - horseshoe nail ) - a special flat nail for attaching horseshoes to hooves [1] . Uchnal consists of a head, neck, pin (or blade) and a tip [2] .

Release Standards
In accordance with GOST 1217-77, horseshoe nails are made in six sizes, according to the numbers: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
Nail Length:
- No. 4 - 45 mm;
- No. 5 - 52 mm;
- No. 6 - 55 mm;
- No. 7 - 59 mm;
- No. 8 - 64 mm;
- No. 9 - 70 mm [3] .
Nails are used for fastening:
- No. 4 - horseshoes No. 0 and No. 00;
- No. 5 - horseshoes No. 1 and No. 2;
- No. 6 - horseshoes No. 2,5 and No. 3;
- No. 7 - horseshoes No. 3,5 and No. 4;
- No. 8 - horseshoes No. 4,5 and No. 5;
- No. 9 - other horseshoe numbers [2] .
Product Requirements
In the manufacture of sniffles, strict requirements are imposed on the quality and hardness of the metal, since using too soft metal can damage the skin of the horseβs hoof due to bending of the nail when attaching the horseshoe, and the use of very hard metal leads to breaking of the fastener [2] .
The surface of the uhnal should not have irregularities and roughness, and its end is always made pointed. At its tip there is a bevel so that when hammering into the horn wall of the hoof, the uhnal comes out at the right height.
