St. Jacob’s Cathedral ( Polish. Bazylika konkatedralna św. Jakuba Apostoła ) is a cathedral in the Polish city of Olsztyn .
The church building was built in the Gothic style in the second half of the XIV century . In 1596 the wooden part of the spire was replaced with a new one. In 1721, side chapels were added to the cathedral. Due to the threat of destruction in 1866 - 1868 overhaul was made, part of the building was restored in neo - gothic style. In 1896 a fire broke out in the church, causing considerable damage to the church buildings. Since 2003, the cathedral has become a small basilica .
The cathedral contains a late Gothic triptych , wall decorations of the Tabernacle , the Holy Cross triptych in the Renaissance style , statues of St. Andrew and St. James , as well as a large baroque crucifix .
In the summer, the cathedral hosts concerts of organ music .
