Jining ( уп . Р. Пин , pinyin : Jìníng ) - urban district in the Chinese province of Shandong . The name means “calm Jishui ” and is related to the fact that in the Middle Ages the seat of the Jizhou regional government was moved to the Jishui River (now it flows through the Yellow River) after the former administrative center of the region was washed away by flooding.

History
In antiquity in these places was the kingdom of Ren (, название), whose name is preserved in local place names. When the kingdom of Qin, for the first time in history, united China into a single state, then Rencheng County was formed.
In the Middle Ages, the Jizhou region (济 州) was created, so named along the Jishui River flowing here (now the Jianhu River flows into the Sea of the Yellow River as before). Initially, her reign was located in Ju , but in 1150, overflowing Huang He destroyed the Ju Ju administrative center, and the regional government moved to Renchen. Under the rule of the Mongols in 1271, the region was raised to the governing council, and in order to emphasize the calm character of the Jishui flow, it was renamed the Jining administration (济宁 府). In 1279, it was renamed the Jining Region (济宁 路), which included 3 provinces and 7 counties.
After the founding of the Ming empire, the regions became governing again in 1368; at that time, the Jining administration was subordinate to 3 provinces and 12 counties. In 1385, the council was reduced in status to an area consisting of three counties.
Under the Qing Empire in 1724, the Jining Oblast (济宁 州) became “directly controlled” (that is, it began to submit directly to the provincial government, bypassing the intermediate link in the form of governing). In 1730, the oblast became “untapped” (there was not a single county subordinate to the oblast authorities). In 1776, the region was again raised to "directly controlled", and 3 districts began to submit to its authorities; the rest of the modern city district of Jining was then subordinate to the Yanzhou City Council (兖州 府).
After the Xinhai Revolution in China, the administrative division structure was reformed, and provincial councils were abolished; those lands that were previously subordinated directly to the authorities of the Jining region, became in 1913 Jining county.
In 1950, the Tenxian Special District (区 专区) was established as part of Shandong Province. In 1952, Pingyuan Province was disbanded, and the Special Hussi District (区 专 区) that was part of it was transferred to Shandong Province. In July 1953, the Special Husi District was disbanded; 4 of its districts were transferred to the Heze Special Region, and the rest were merged with the Tenxian Special District in the Jining Special District (区 专区). In 1956, the Syshui district was transferred from the Special District of Taian (区 专区) to the Special District of Jining. In November 1958, the Heze Special District was annexed to the Jining Special District, but in June 1959, these two special districts were divided again. In September 1961, Zaozhuang was separated from the Jining Special District. In 1967, the Jining Special District was renamed the Jining District (济宁). In 1978, Tenxian County was transferred to Zaozhuang.
On August 30, 1983, by the resolution of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, the Jining District was transformed into the Jining City District.
