Dongying ( Chinese: . , Pinyin : Dōngyíng , literally: “Eastern military camp”) is an urban district in the north of the Chinese province of Shandong .

Content

History

In 1961, the Shenli field, the second largest oil field in China, was discovered near the Dongying Village of Guangzhao County. In 1965, the Dongying Working Committee was established as part of the Huimin Special District (modern Binzhou ) to manage the oil production area.

In August 1982, the government of Shandong Province applied to the State Council of the PRC with a proposal to allocate a region of oil fields in a separate city district. In November 1982, the State Council of the PRC made such a decision, and on October 15, 1983, the Dongying City District was officially formed.

In 2016, Kenli County was transformed into an area of urban subordination.

Geography

Located at the mouth of the Yellow River, and borders on the west of Binzhou , in the southwest on Zibo and in the south on Weifang . In the north and east, the urban district is bounded by the 350 km long yellow sea coast and has, respectively, exits to Bohai Bay and Laizhou Bay. The maximum length from north to south is 123 km, from east to west - 74 km.

In 2010, GDP amounted to 235.994 billion yuan , which is 6.02% of the total GDP of the Shandong provinces. In terms of GDP, Dongying was in 8th place in the province and 45th in the whole country. ^[one]

The urban district has Dongying Shengli Airport.

Attractions

In Dongying, there is a monument to the Yellow River installed in 1995 ( Chinese 黄河体体, ), which houses 1093 reservoirs with water samples taken every five kilometers from the source to the mouth of the Yellow River ^[2] ^[3] .
