Porta Porteze (in antiquity Porta Portuensis - Port Gate ) - gate in Rome.
Formerly from Porta Portuensis, the walls of Aurelian , which served to protect Janiculus and Trastevere , led Via Portuensis to the port of the emperors Claudius and Trajan. The port gates had two arched spans and semicircular brick towers and in shape resembled the other gates of the Aurelian wall - the ports of Appia, Flaminia and Ostia Gate.
Under Pope Urban VIII, they were demolished and in 1644 they built new ones - Porta Portese , which are located 450 meters to the north.
