Biography
In 1985, the Melissa family moved to San Francisco , where she graduated from a Catholic school at the Convent of the Sacred Heart. Then she lived in New York. She graduated from Columbia University (majoring in English, art history), collaborated as a journalist and editor in fashion and beauty publications, including Cosmopolitan , Harper's Bazaar , Marie Claire ; in her novels, mention is often made of fashion and style, the clothes of the heroes are described in detail. In 2001, she published her first novel, Cat's Meow. The most famous for her brought a series of vampires "Blue Blood" (Blue Bloods). Melissa now lives in New York and Los Angeles with her husband Mike Johnston (he is a co-author of her last book) and daughter [2] .
Blue Blood
The Blue Blood series talks about the life of vampires ("blue blood") in modern New York. The heroine, Schuyler (Skyler) van Alen [3] - a descendant of one of the families of the first settlers in the United States, who were vampires. The author connects the appearance in the USA of vampires with the mysterious history of the deceased colony of Roanoke .
Schuyler is studying at the Duchenes Closed School (in the Russian translation erroneously, “Duchesne”), many of whose students, as it turns out, are vampires. The heroine will not only learn the history of her family, but also fight with the vampires of the Silver Blood: they do not recognize vampire laws and kill other vampires in order to take away their strength. “Blue Blood” is described in the books of the series as a physical feature of vampires. Boshan Family
