Biography
Prince Alexander Teksky was the brother of Queen Maria , the wife of George V. Accordingly, he was uncle of King Edward VIII and George VI and great-uncle Queen Elizabeth II . Married to Princess Alice Albany , granddaughter of Queen Victoria. They had 3 children:
- Princess May Tex ( January 23, 1906 - May 29, 1994 ).
- Prince Rupert of Tex ( August 24, 1907 - April 15, 1928 ).
- Prince Maurice Teksky ( March 29, 1910 - September 14, 1910 ).
In 1915 he abandoned his German titles and changed his last name to Cambridge, which allowed him to remain a prince of blood. He repeatedly became governor or viceroy of various colonies of the empire.
In 1917, Alexander Cambridge was given the title of "Earl Athlon", and his son, the former Prince Rupert, received the " title of courtesy " "Viscount Trematon." In 1928, Viscount Trematon, who inherited hemophilia from his maternal grandfather, Prince Leopold , died in a car accident. Since peer titles (unless otherwise specified at their establishment) are transferred only through the male line, with the death of Cambridge in 1957, the title “Count Athlon” disappeared.
