Biography
Born in Manchester, UK. Father is Greek Cypriot, mother is Jewish. At the age of 4, he immigrated with his parents to Canada. After the parents divorced, his mother married conservative politician John Clement, a member of the Legislative Assembly and Ontario Provincial Minister. John Clement adopted Tony.
Graduated from the University of Toronto, Bachelor of Law .
In 1995, he was elected to the Ontario Provincial Legislative Assembly from the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party. In 1997-2003, he held ministerial posts in the government of Ontario. In the 2003 provincial elections, he was defeated, at the same time defeated and his party went into opposition.
Clement was a candidate for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada after its founding by combining the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada with the Canadian Union in 2004 , but Stephen Harper won the fight.
He was elected as a deputy to the House of Commons of Canada on January 23, 2006 , having won Parry Sound-Muskoka in his district with a weak margin of 28 votes, and was re-elected to parliament from this district in all subsequent federal elections. On February 6, 2006 he took the oath as Minister of Health in the new cabinet of Prime Minister Stephen Harper. He subsequently held a number of ministerial posts.
After the defeat of the conservatives in the 2015 parliamentary elections, he alternately held the posts of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Justice of the shadow cabinet .
Due to sexual scandal, he left the shadow cabinet [2] , then was expelled from the party.
