Zhetykol is a closed salt lake located in the Svetlinsky district of the Orenburg region of the Russian Federation , near the border with Kazakhstan . The name of the lake is translated from the Kazakh language as "seven lakes."

The lake lies in the southeast of the Svetlinsky district in one of the largest lake basins, with an area of about 12,000 hectares [1] . In the Orenburg region it is the second largest lake, only Shalkar-Ega-Kara is larger than it. The hollow of the lake is surrounded by hills. The water surface of the lake is about 4000 ha [1] . The shore in the northeast of the lake is blurry and understated due to a deep ravine. The depth of the lake is 1-1.5 m.
On the shore of the lake is the village of Ozerny , the administrative center of the Ozerny village council of the Svetlinsky district . Zhetykol Lake is classified as a lake reserve as a nesting and resting place for waterfowl during the flight.
