Biography
Marge was born in a rural area in South Carolina and grew up near Fayetteville, North Carolina . Her parents often quarreled, and Marge indignant at her mother, who did not respond to insults and beatings. Marge left the family when in 1949 she married Thomas Burke. They had two children and they lived quite happily until Barfield had severe back pain after suffering a gynecological operation. Perhaps because of this, she is addicted to drugs . Somehow, her behavior has changed. Thomas Burke began to drink, and in April 1969, Marge with the children found the house burned down, and her husband dead.
In 1970, Marge married a widower, Jennings Barfield. Less than a year after the marriage, Jennings died of heart complications, and Marge was widowed a second time. In 1974, Mother Barfield - Lillian Ballard - suddenly started diarrhea , vomiting and nausea , she recovered only after a few days. On Christmas days that same year, Lillian re-experienced the same illness. She died in the hospital. In 1976, Barfield hired to help an elderly couple, Montgomery and Dolly Edwards. In the winter of the same year, Montgomery fell ill and died. A month later, after the death of her husband, Dolly started a disease that Marge's mother had, and she also died. Barfield later confessed to this murder. The following year, 1977, Barfield was caring for 76-year-old Lee, whose leg was broken. On June 4, 1977, husband Lee suffered agonizing abdominal pains along with vomiting and diarrhea . He passed away. Another victim was Stuart Taylor, a friend of Barfield and a relative of Dolly Edwards. She added arsenic - containing rat poison to his beer and tea. Taylor died on February 3, 1978 , while Barfield tried to "cure" him. An autopsy revealed that arsenic was the cause of death. Barfield arrested. After this, Jennings Barfield’s body was exhumed and traces of the same poison were found. In the end, Marge began to confess to the murders.
