Libekir

The origin of the toponym Libekir is unclear: according to popular legend, a certain Bekir (a common Crimean Tatar male name) once tried to plant a garden on the mountain, but since nothing grew, he was nicknamed Delhi-Bekir ( Crimean-Tat. Delhi - "crazy", "); the name passed to the mountain, and Russian clerks recording toponyms from hearing heard Libekir, and the word was fixed on the maps [2] . In the Beilik (patrimony) of the Yashlau clan (in the Russian transcription - the Yashlavsky, also known in the Russian diplomatic documents as the “princes Suleshovs ”) during the Crimean Khanate , and, possibly, earlier (it is believed that the Yashlau clan is originally Crimean [3] ), included local lands, including the valleys of Alma and Kachi [4] .

Mount Libekir is composed of Upper Paleogene marls and clay with layers of Sarmatian shell limestones on a shale-limestone base [5] , which is clearly visible on the cliffs of the eastern slope. The mountain is covered by a low mixed forest, with a predominance of rocky oak and hayfields , interspersed with shiblak [6] .

At the foot of Libekir there are villages: from the north of Zavetnoe , from the eastern side - Samokhvalovo .
