The role of USOS and its functions
The Office submits reports to the UN Secretary General, which contain information on the use of the organization鈥檚 resources and the protection of its property, and also makes these reports available to the General Assembly. The reports are compiled from audits, investigations, inspections, monitoring, evaluation and advisory programs provided to the United Nations Secretariat and a wide range of United Nations entities. According to information from the official website, OIOS sees itself as an intermediary helping various UN departments and offices create highly efficient resource management, standardize reporting, ensure transparency and inform about risks.
