Cosmist (literary group)

Cosmist is a group of proletarian writers in Petrograd, organized following the example of the Moscow group Kuznitsa .

It was created in 1920 by former members of the Proletcult , of which A. Gastev and V. Kazin played the leading role. Political and artistic positions of the Cosmist were the same as those of the Forge. The name symbolizes international revolutionary aspirations and cosmic hyperbolization of images. In June 1923 , after the leading role in the management of proletarian literature passed to the October group, the group split up.
