Shadrin, Alexey Matveevich

Alexey Matveevich Shadrin ( March 15 (28), 1911 , Samara - 1983 , Leningrad ) - Russian poet and translator.

Since 1931 he taught at various educational institutions of Leningrad, was a member of the circle of young writers grouped around Mikhail Kuzmin . In 1934, Andre Gide accompanied informally during his trip to Leningrad ^[1] . In 1938 he was arrested, spent two years in prison, but was released in 1940. In 1940, he took the son of the repressed Benedict Livshits into his family ^[2] . He survived the siege of Leningrad , in February 1942, together with his mother was evacuated to Yaroslavl . Returning to Leningrad after the end of the war, in July 1945 he was again arrested, sentenced to 7 years in prison camps, and served time on the construction of the Bratsk Hydroelectric Power Station . In 1956, rehabilitated. After rehabilitation, he was engaged in literary work. He translated fiction and, to a lesser extent, poetry from French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Swedish.

Meturin , “ Heptameron ” by Margarita of Navarre , works of Guy de Maupassant , Stendhal , Balzac , Anatole France , Emile Zola , Georges Sand , Walter Scott , Rudyard Kipling , Catherine Mansfield Anders , , Matteo Bandello , Alejo Carpentier and others.
