Symmetric calendar is a calendar design developed by ^{[ when? ]} Dr. I. Bromberg of the University of Toronto, and proposed by him as a replacement for the Gregorian calendar . (See the projects of other (universal) calendars , also called to replace the modern one.) This calendar is very similar to the calendar of Comte , which was proposed back in the middle of the XIX century. It differs from the latter only in that 52 weeks are not divided into 13, but into 12 months.

In this calendar, every new month starts on Monday. Each quarter has the same number of weeks - 13. Four months a year have 35 days - February, May, August and November, the rest - 28. As a result, a typical year consists of 364 days. Every five or six years, a leap week is inserted at the end of December, thus making it a 35-day week.

The advantage of the project is that it has a strong connection between the day and the day of the week, which makes the calendar for every year the same. At the same time, the author managed to keep the sequence of seven days of the week intact.
