"The flag of the municipality of Volosovsky municipal district is a rectangular panel with the ratio of the flag's width to a length of 2: 3, reproducing the composition of the coat of arms of the municipality of Volosovsky municipal district in green and yellow colors."

The heraldic description of the coat of arms reads as follows: “ In a green field, a cross-cut, cross-cut rhombus, accompanied by bezant in the inter- crosses . In the upper right corner - the head of a bull, in the upper left corner - an abstract spruce. At the tip of the shield there are three bezant (one and two), surrounded by a ring, accompanied by two distracted ears on the sides, laid arcuately and directed upwards. All figures are golden . ”

The flag and the coat of arms with this description were approved by the Heraldic Council under the President of the Russian Federation and entered into the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation with the assignment of registration numbers 2473 and 2474, and are used as official symbols of the Volosovsky municipal district. [2]

However, by decision of the Council of Deputies of the municipal entity Volosovsky Municipal District of July 5, 2006 No. 61 [1] , the following description of the coat of arms was approved: “ In a green field a ring with rays without a number filled with greens; inside the ring there is the head of a bull, accompanied along the sides at the top - by two cross-cutting diagonal rhombuses, followed by bezant in the inter-crosses; on the sides below - two abstract branches of potatoes, laid arched and directed upwards. All figures are golden . ”

Symbolization Justification

Used flag

Golden cross-sectional cross-cut rhombus, accompanied by bezantami in the internal intercrossings - the so-called “sign of the sown field”, widely used in various interpretations in Russian folk art, four bezant-grains. Symbolizes the spiritual culture of the past, the cultural heritage of the area, a symbol of agricultural land.

The golden head of a bull personifies the name of the district and the city - the district center. An ancient legend says that in the place between the villages of Kandakül and Seltso, the ancient Slavs worshiped their pagan god Veles (Volos), the patron of cattle breeding. The Volosovo region and the Volosovsky region created on August 1, 1927, keep its name on its behalf.

Velez patronized not only livestock but also wealth in general (the word “livestock” in medieval Russian meant wealth). The symbol of the agricultural nature of the area, the development of animal husbandry in it.

Golden spruce - a symbol of forest wealth - characterizes the Volosovsky district as a forest region, as well as the presence of forestry enterprises in the district.

The childhood and youth years of N. K. Roerich , the world-famous artist, philosopher, scientist, traveler, poet, and writer, are associated with Izvara . For about 30 years, the Roerich family owned a manor. Here in Izvara, Roerich conceived a series of paintings “The Beginning of Slavic Russia”. By 1893 there were two etudes “Mounds” made by him in Izvara, as well as work on the paintings “Lament of Yaroslavna” and “Svyatopolk damned”. In the izvarskoy workshop, in 1898, Roerich worked on the painting "Messenger". She was acquired by Tretyakov for her gallery . Even in the last years of his life, while living in India , N. K. Roerich recalls Izvara. About this he writes in his diary.

The ring with three unesants in the center is a symbol which, according to N.K. Roerich's intention, should be placed on all cultural monuments. They were offered the Banner of Peace - a white cloth with a red circle with three red circles in the middle. "Past, Present and Future achievements of mankind, surrounded by a ring of Eternity." N. K. Roerich believed that a “banner of peace” should develop over monuments of culture and museums, which would imperatively say to the vandals: “Do not touch - national property is here”!

On the territory of the Volosovsky district there are about 200 monuments of the glorious past. More than 50 archaeological sites - mounds, settlements are scattered throughout the district.

Two golden ears symbolize development in the plant growing area, as well as being generally a symbol of agriculture.

Green and gold are the colors of the heraldic emblem of the Volosovo and Volosovsky districts (1980–90s).

Green color is the traditional color of nature, its revival every spring, symbolizes hope, abundance, health, freedom and joy. The symbol of forest wealth and agricultural land.

Yellow ( gold ) is spiritual greatness.

In general, the symbolism of the flag (bull's head, ears of corn) symbolizes agriculture (animal husbandry and plant growing) —the basis of the district’s economy, and rhombus — an element of ancient Russian ornament and the sign of N. Roerich — the rich spiritual culture of the region.
