General Information

On the eve of the 1996 season, the FFT and ITF organized a joint professional tournament in Marseille . The first competition had a prize fund of 10 thousand dollars , but a year later the tennis players who arrived had played five times as much. The tournament was not held in 1998, but a year later the competition was restored and has been held annually since then.

The first tournament was held in September, and later on the tournament was regularly held in June - shortly after Roland Garros .

Winners and finalists

The competition is very popular among the representatives of Spain : on their account 11 titles (of which seven were in singles). Conchita Martinez-Granados and Angeles Montoli are the only two tennis players to have won the single player tournament more than once. Conchita, along with Lourdes Dominguez Lino and Laura Thorpe, are the only tennis players to have won the doubles tournament more than once. The French won the home tournament six times: two victories came in singles and four in doubles. The pair competition was submitted five times to mono-ethnic couples: three times they were Spanish women and once Danes and French women.
