Chelahsartag , Chelahsarton ( Osset. Chelækhsærtæg) - the character of the Ossetian Nart epic , the son of Khiz from the family of Akhsartagkat , the father of the beautiful Bedouha .
Mythology
About Chelakhsartag is told in the story of the epos "How Soslan married Beduha". The Nart hero Soslan fell in love with the beautiful Bedouha. Chelakhsartag promised to give his daughter to Soslan, setting him the condition to defeat him in the battle with him. In the long battle described in the story of the epic “The Battle of Soslan with Chelahsarton,” Soslan defeated Chelahsartag, but he, however, did not fulfill his promise. For seven long years, Chelakhsartag did not give his consent to the marriage of his beautiful daughter with Soslan, which led to irreconcilable hostility between these Nart heroes.
Once Soslan, joining the battle with Chelahsartagom, demolished him part of the skull. Then Chelahsartag turned to the heavenly blacksmith Kurdalagon and he made a copper cover for his head. Soslan, learning about this, asked the creator of the land of Hutsau to order the Sun to send such heat so that the copper helmet covering the head of Chelakhsartag would melt. Soslan's request was fulfilled. The copper lid that covered the skull glowed with incredible heat and Chelakhsartag died of molten metal. Soslan built a large crypt for the deceased Chelakhsartag and placed his beloved father there. Having known about the death of her father, the poor woman could not bear the loss and died of grief, committing suicide. The deceased Bedouha was put in a crypt next to her father. Soslan revived Bedouha with the help of a magical bead of fulfillment of desires and, marrying her, brought to his house.
