At competitions, the country was represented by four athletes . Daniel Thomas in the 400m race and Mohammed Hassan Chubbanga Dyamwale at a distance of 800m could not pass the preliminary round, taking the last places in their races. Pascal Mfiomi, who participated in the 10 km race, did not finish. Omari Abdallah in the marathon race took 47th place among 58 finishing athletes [1] .
Among these athletes, only Omari Abdallah continued his career at the following Olympic Games - in 1972 he participated in another discipline, the relay race 4 × 400 m.
