Afghanistan participated in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, for the ninth time in its history, missing the 1984 Summer Olympics , but won no medals. After the delegation of its athletes to the Olympics in the USSR, Afghanistan boycotted the Olympic Games in Los Angeles .
