Player Career
Early years
Eric began his hockey career at Pembina Valley Hawks, playing MMMHL . Beginning with the 2000–2001 season, he played for Brandon Wit Kings in the Western Hockey League .
Club career
Eric Fehr was selected by the Washington Capitals for the 2003 NHL draft in the 1st round, with a total of 18 numbers. He made his debut in the NHL in the 2005–06 season in a match against the “ Florida Panthers ”, which took place on December 18, 2005 [1] . The capitals lost 2: 3 in that match, Fer spent 7 minutes 33 seconds on the ice, scoring two shots on goal and two minutes penalty. The next match in the NHL, he spent February 3, 2006 against the Toronto Maple Leafs . In general, for the season from held in the “ Washington Capitals ” 11 games, without earning any points. The rest of the time he played for the Hershi Bears farm club in the AHL , where he was one of the most successful players.
Season 2006-2007 Eric started at Hershey . The season 2007/2008 was overshadowed for Eric by a trauma to the intervertebral disc, from which he recovered only by February 2008 and had 4 numbers left on the ice. [3] On July 11, 2008 , the Washington Capitals extended the contract with a hockey player for one year.
On July 16, 2009 , Fehr renewed his contract with the club for another year; transaction amount was $ 771,550.
On July 8, 2011, Eric Fer was traded in the fourth round of the 2012 NHL draft pick to Winnipeg Jets for forward Danica Puckett . [4] In October 2011, Fer underwent surgery on his right shoulder and missed most of the season due to repeated problems with him. [5] At the end of the 2011/12 season, the Jets did not make a qualifying offer to the forward, and from July 1, Eric became an unrestricted free agent. [6] He played 35 matches for the club, scoring 3 points.
Because of the NHL lockout, on October 23, 2012, he signed his first European contract with the Finnish COD club playing in the SM League [7] . Playing in Finland, he scored 13 goals in 21 matches and gave 12 assists.
In 2013, Eric returned to the United States and on January 13 signed a contract with the Washington Capitals until the end of the season. [8] At the end of that season, Fer earned 17 points in 41 NHL matches. In April 2013, the forward signed a new two-year agreement with the club. The salary of the hockey player on the new contract amounted to $ 1.5 million.
For the season 2013/14, Fer spent 73 games in the Capitals , scored 31 points and scored 13 goals.
For the 2014/15 regular season, Eric scored 33 (19 +14) points in 75 games. In early June, Fehr had an operation on his elbow joint and was out of action for six months.
July 1, 2015 hockey player received the status of unlimited free agent. On July 28, 2015, the forward signed a contract with Pittsburgh Penguins . [9] The agreement is designed for 3 seasons, under the terms of which the hockey player will receive an average of $ 2 million per year.

In the offseason he left Sharks and signed a 1-year contract for $ 1 million with Minnesota Wild .
