Group History

Threshold was formed in the 80s in Surrey , England . They were known for their peculiar heavy sound at the junction of heavy metal and progressive rock. Threshold's discography was opened in 1993 when the band signed on to GEP Records . In the same year they released their debut album Wounded Land . Over the next six years, they recorded three more albums: Psychedelicatessen , Extinct Instinct and Clone , and went on tour with such world-famous progressive metal bands as Dream Theater , Psychotic Waltz and Pain of Salvation .

After a short period, when the main vocal was performed by bass guitarist John Jiri, Damien became the lead vocalist of Threshold, with whose participation Wounded Land's debut album was recorded. On the second Psychedelicatessen album, Glynn Morgan became the lead vocalist, who, in addition to the number album, recorded a live album with the group Livedelica , and then left the group to form the Mindfeed collective. Damien Wilson returns with the lead vocalist, with whom the group recorded the album Extinct Instinct in 1997 . However, after the recording, Wilson leaves the band again.

In 1998, Threshold went under the wing of Inside Out Music . Instead of the departed Wilson, the new vocalist Andrew McDermott from the British heavy metal band Sargant Fury arrives, and in the same year will debut on the new studio album Clone. In the subsequent 2001 and 2002, Threshold recorded the Hypothetical and Critical Mass , which brought the group great fame. The following year, the group performs a concert by Critical Energy , which in 2004 was released on the double-concert album and DVD of the same name. In the same 2004, Threshold recorded another studio album, Subsurface , which became "absolute perfection" according to the music publication Darkscene and a fifteen- fold "album of the month."

In 2007, the group again changed the release label and signed a contract with Nuclear Blast Records . In the same year, the eighth album Dead Reckoning was released , the single from which was the almost 10-minute track “ Pilot in the Sky of Dreams ”. After recording the album, the group disagrees between the members, and McDermott leaves the line-up. In 2010, McDermott took part in the recording of the album of the German power metal band Powerworld Human Parasite , and also returned to the prog metal band Yargos , with whom he recorded the album To Be or Not to Be in 2005.

After leaving McDermott's band, Wilson again takes the lead.

On August 3, 2011, Andrew McDermott , a former vocalist of the band, died of kidney failure , having lain for four days in a coma [1] [2] .

In October 2011, the musicians gathered at Thin Ice Studios and began work on recording a new album, which was released on August 24, 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records [3] called March of Progress . September 19, 2014 released another studio album For the Journey .

On March 27, 2017, on its official website and Facebook page, the group announced that it had broken up with vocalist Damian Wilson, "deciding to start a new chapter without him." Wilson, in turn, said that he respects their decision [4] . The lead vocalist was taken by former Threshold member Glynn Morgan, with whom the band recorded their second album Psychedelicatessen twenty-three years earlier.

In the same year, the group leaves the permanent rhythm guitarist Pete Morten. The second guitarist is vocalist Glynn Morgan.

In September 2017, the next album, the double conceptual Legends of the Shires , was released, and the group went on a concert tour, following which in the fall of 2018, the Two-Zero-One-Seven concert album was released.
