The medal "30 years of the Bulgarian People's Army" was established on May 22, 1974. Awarded to all servicemen (regardless of rank) for merits in the Bulgarian People’s Army. The award could also be received by foreign servicemen for their services to the Bulgarian army.

Medal Description
The medal "30 years of the Bulgarian People's Army" is made of non-ferrous metal and has the shape of a regular circle with a diameter of 32 mm.
The front side of the medal depicts: A warrior of the Bulgarian army on the background of a map of the Bulgarian People's Republic with sun rays radiating from it, a pentagonal asterisk at the top, framed with olive branches. In the circle goes the inscription "TRIDESET GODINI BULGARSK PEOPLE ARMY 1944-1974"
On the reverse side of the medal are depicted: A shield with crossed swords, on the shield is a lion standing on its hind legs, on top of the shield is a pentagonal asterisk in a circle around a wreath of two olive branches tied with a ribbon, on top of a semicircle the inscription "* 1944 * BNA * 1974 *".
All inscriptions and images on the medal are convex. The edges of the medal on the front and back side are bordered with a bulging rim.
To attach to the clothes of the medal is the order pentagonal block. The block represents the pentagonal plate turned one corner down. The plate has a figure cutout in the bottom corner for attaching the medal to the shoe. On the back side of the plate there is a pin-shaped device for attaching the pad to clothing.
The block is covered with a silk moire tape 24 mm wide. The tape is light blue with two longitudinal white-green-red stripes on the edges. The width of the strips of 3 mm each.
