History
In the early to mid-1990s, Heckler & Koch modified the MSG-90 rifle to compete in the DMR ( Designated Marksman Rifle - Military Sniper Rifle ) competition held by the US Department of Defense.
The replacement of the MSG-90 with the MSG-90A1 began in 1998.
Modification
- MSG-90A1 received fixed sights - a front sight in the annular gunner and an adjustable rear sight from the NK 21 machine gun, designed for a range of 100 to 1200 meters.
- The muzzle of the barrel was equipped with a new arrester , providing the ability to install a silencer for the sound of a shot.
- Behind the window for ejecting cartridges appeared reflector shells, providing the ability to fire from the left shoulder.
- The fuse lever has become double-sided.
- MSG-90A1 has a redesigned stock with adjustable rubber back plate and cheek, equipped with divisions to quickly restore the desired configuration.
Except for the differences listed above, the MSG-90A1 uses the same accessories, stores, and spare parts as the MSG90 .
The rest of the MSG-90A1 is no different from the prototype.
