History

The stadium with a capacity of 19,800 seats was opened in 1967. In the past, the number of seats reached 30,000, but in this case, most viewers had to stand.

In 1989, the upper tribune was completed.

In 1998, the club’s official store was opened on its territory; on May 29, 1999, office services were located in the back of the stadium, which were still located on Pamplona Square in Castillo. In January of the same year, a video panel appeared in the northern corner of the arena, and on November 13 a new public residence and meeting room opened.

In the 1999/00 season , two restaurants began to function from the outside of the stadium, the press center changed its location.

In the 2002/03 season , new booths for commentators (and the press) were equipped. Now they are located in the upper zone of the stadium, while the former press zone has become a VIP box. A telescopic tunnel for wardrobes was also organized, the outer side of the tarpaulin was decorated with osasunistas images.

Later, the office building was expanded with the construction of three additional offices and a new meeting room. May 14, 2003 the premises of the fan club Federación de Peñas Osasunistas [1] were opened .

In the summer of that year, the fence around the field was rebuilt. It was reduced in size and moved towards the field, thereby improving its visibility. The old spare benches were replaced with new ones made of methacrylate . In the front part, the new Fundación Osasuna residence was opened [2] .

From the moment of its opening to the end of 2005, the stadium bore the name El Sadar (in honor of the Sadar River, which crosses the capital of Navarra). In 2006, the stadium was given a new name after Osasuna and the government of Navarra signed a corresponding sponsorship agreement, under which the team received 1.5 million euros for three years. The name "Reynaud de Navarra" is intended to contribute to the development of tourism in the region. The name change was marked on December 29, 2005 by holding a football match between the national teams of Navarra and China .

In December 2006, the club management submitted an ambitious project for the reconstruction of the sports arena to the Pamplona Municipality. It consists in the demolition of the four corners of the stadium, the construction of new stands in their place, the replacement of the old roof and a complete reform of the facade, the external and internal appearance.
