During the Great Patriotic War, he particularly distinguished himself when crossing the Dnieper . In September 1943, a battalion under his command broke through the enemy’s defenses in the area of the village of Zhernoklevy ( Drabovsky district of Cherkasy region , Ukraine ), bypassed it from the rear and defeated the division headquarters located there. During the pursuit, by the evening of September 20, the battalion reached the left bank of the Dnieper , and on September 22, the strike group under his command first crossed the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Grigorovka (Kanevsky district of Cherkasy region), captured the dominant height and held the bridgehead for several days until the regiment's main forces arrived.
Biography
Early years
He was born on December 22, 1916 (January 4, 1917) in the village of Dmitrievskoye in the Mirotinsky volost of the Alexinsky district of the Tula province (now Zaoksky district of the Tula region ) [1] .
In 1930 he graduated from the 4th grade of a peasant youth school, worked as a student in an artel . At seven, his mother, Marfa Petrovna, died, and a few years later, his father, Alexei Andreevich. After the death of his father, in 1934 he moved to his uncle in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), where in 1935 he graduated from high school FZU , in 1937 - the evening electromechanical work school . In 1935-1939 he worked as a metalworker at the Elektrosila plant [1] [2] [3] .
In the Red Army since October 1939. The Red Armyman Korolev served in the infantry in the Kiev Military District in Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk . In the summer of 1940, as part of the 109th Rifle Regiment of the 30th Irkutsk Rifle Division, he participated in the annexation of Bessarabia to the USSR [1] [2] [3] .
A year later, his regiment became part of the 74th Infantry Division , which since June 16, 1941, was stationed west of the city of Balti [3] .
During the Great Patriotic War
Member of the Great Patriotic War : in June-September 1941 - the Red Army soldier of the 109th Rifle Regiment, in September-November 1941 - the Red Army soldier of the 35th Rifle Regiment, in November 1941 - January 1942 - the Red Army soldier of the 551st Mortar Division. He fought on the southern front . He participated in defensive battles in Moldova , in the south of Ukraine and the Donbass , the defense of Rostov and the Rostov offensive operation [1] . As a gunner, a 120-mm mortar participated in battles near the cities of Balta , Nikolaev and Kherson . According to the memoirs of K. A. Korolev, especially heavy battles unfolded near Kakhovka : “The battles were fierce. When the mortar ran out of ammunition, we were taken to the rear. The infantry remained fighting. Many of us died there ” [2] .
In March 1942 he graduated from the courses of junior political officers at the headquarters of the 56th Army . In March-August 1942 - the political instructor of the company of the 71st Rifle Regiment (South and North Caucasus Fronts ). He participated in defensive battles in the Taganrog , Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar regions . On August 13, 1942, he was seriously wounded in the right leg in the Krasnodar region and until October 1942 he was in the hospital in Tbilisi . In 1943 he graduated from the branch of the Shot courses at the Transcaucasian Front (Tbilisi) [1] .
In February-October 1943 - company commander, deputy commander and battalion commander of the 1131th Infantry Regiment (Transcaucasian, Stepnoy , Voronezh and 1st Ukrainian Fronts ). He participated in the liberation of Taman , the Battle of Kursk , the liberation of the Left Bank of Ukraine [1] . For participation in the liberation of Boromlya station and several other cities of Sumy and Poltava regions he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree (September 25, 1943) [4] [3] .
Particularly distinguished when crossing the Dnieper . In pursuit of those fleeing, by the evening of September 20, 1943, the battalion reached the left bank of the Dnieper . On September 22, 1943, the strike group under his command crossed the Dnieper in the area of the village of Grigorovka (Kanevsky district of Cherkasy region), captured the dominant height and held the bridgehead for several days until the regiment’s main forces arrived [1] .
On October 29, 1943, his battalion defended themselves near the village of Romashki on the Bukrinsky bridgehead . The German units with large forces launched an attack on the position of the battalion and broke into the rear, surrounding the command post of the regiment. KA Korolev with a group of fighters broke through the encirclement, was seriously wounded in the right leg, but continued to lead the battle until the enemy was thrown back to their original positions [3] [1] . Until February 1944, he was in a hospital in the city of Tashkent ( Uzbekistan ) [1] . In total, during the war years he was once shell-shocked and wounded three times: “I didn’t want to die, but I did not hope to survive. Not now they’ll kill, so in an hour. Survived. Fate! ” [2]
For courage and heroism shown in battles with the Nazi invaders, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 13, 1943, Senior Lieutenant Korolyov Konstantin Alekseevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal [1] .
After leaving the hospital in April-June 1944, he served as an instructor in the Leninsky district military enlistment office in Moscow [1] .
Post-war years
In 1947 he graduated from the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze . He served in the infantry as a battalion commander (in the Central Asian military district ), in 1948-1950 - as an inspector of the Department of General Military Training of the General Staff of the Ground Forces. Since 1950, he was an inspector, senior officer, and deputy department heads at the Main Directorate of Combat and Physical Training of the Ground Forces; from 1967-1970, he was the head of a department of the Directorate of Non-Military Training of the Ground Forces. Since August 1970, Colonel K. A. Korolev - in stock [1] .
In 1970-1985 he worked as the head of the department at the USSR State Committee for Vocational Education [1] . He also worked in the Committee of War Veterans and the main headquarters of the military sports game "Eaglet" [2] , a member of the editorial board of the magazine "Military Knowledge" [5] .
He lived in Moscow. He died on September 5, 2010. He was buried at the Perepechinsky cemetery in Moscow [1] .

Mother - Marfa Petrovna (1887-1924) and father, Alexei Andreevich (1885-1933), were engaged in agriculture [9] . They died early, leaving Konstantin Korolyov an orphan [2] .
In the 1930s, one of his younger brothers, Alexander, moved to him in Leningrad, where he also graduated from FZU and worked as a turner at Elektrosila. Then he became a submariner and died in September 1941. The second brother, Victor, fought near Leningrad, was seriously wounded and never returned to the front [2] .
