The flag of the British Antarctic Territory was adopted in 1969, seven years after the formation of the British Antarctic Territory . Until that time, the flag of the Falkland Islands was used , from which this territory was isolated.

History
The flag of the British Antarctic Survey ships is the Blue Ensign with the coat of arms of the British Antarctic Territory. In 1985, a white flag with the UK flag in the roof and the coat of arms of the British Antarctic Territory was established for use at British research stations in the Territory, as well as for the headquarters and offices of the British Antarctic Survey. This is the only example of using a white flag with the British flag.
