The film has never been publicly screened, although several photographic journalists have seen it in life — including Thomas Bedding, J. Hay Taylor, and Theodore Brown. Currently, it is considered a lost film with no known surviving shots (except for one remaining still image).
This film was shot on a celluloid film using a chronophotographic camera. For a long time, it was considered the first movie - until the discovery of Louis Leprens films, which were shot a year earlier. The film on which the film was made was 20 feet long.
W. Freese-Green began working on films in 1888. Then he shot a short dumb documentary "Scene on Brighton Street" ( English Brighton Street Scene , to this day has not survived). In the film, pedestrians and carts were shot, it lasted 49 seconds.
In 1889, in London, W. Freeze-Green shot another mute black-and-white short film - Hyde Park corner . Some consider it part of the film "Leisurely Pedestrians ...". The film is also considered to be lost, currently no frames have been preserved. The film also used a chronophotographic camera and celluloid film.
There is a two-second version of the film “Hyde Park Corner” (it also contains pedestrians and carts), although some believe that the film lasts about a minute.
