Among the Hutts, Telepinu was the son of the thunder god Tara ( Teshub ) and the sun goddess ( Arinn city), the husband of Khatepin , the daughter of the sea god. As the son of the god of thunder, Telepin also possessed power over thunder, lightning and rain, which contributed to the irrigation of fields and the growth of cereals. The symbol of the god Telepin was an oak , and his cult center was the city of Tavana .

The legend of Telepin was part of a ritual for the propitiation of the gods in difficult times. It has been preserved to this day in excerpts and various versions. The beginning of the narrative is absent, however, from the subsequent text it is clear that the god Telepino suddenly disappeared. The God of the Sun sent messengers to the eagle and the god of the wind so that they would help Telepin in the search, but their efforts were unsuccessful. In the end, the mother of the gods Hannahann sent a bee in search of. The bee found Telepina sleeping peacefully and, without thinking twice, stung him to wake him up. Awakened in this way, the god became enraged and inflicted more damage than he did while he was sleeping. Even the gods were scared. To tame the raging Telepin, the sorceress Kamrusepa was called. With the help of spells, she cleared the god of the harvest of malice and bad mood. Telepin returned, and the land again became fertile.
