Story
There is the year 2079 of the Universal Age. Due to the overpopulation of the Earth, mankind has thrown into space and created giant colonies called "Parties". One of them, Party-3, wishing to separate from the Earth, declares war on the metropolis. Having proclaimed themselves the Duchy of Zion, the rebels undertake a massive offensive.
The series begins with the attack of Zion on "Side-7", producing prototypes of the new weapons of the Earth. Residents evacuated from the colony. Amuro Rei is among them, having accidentally discovered how the RX-78-2 Gundam mobile armor is immersed in a ship. Carried away by technology, the teenager climbs inside, activates the mechanism and repels the attack of Zion. Later, along with the rest of the survivors, he finds himself aboard the White Base ship, which lacks personnel.
