Ella ( date. Ella Ø ) is an island east of Greenland , at the mouth of the Kempe Fjord at the northern tip of the King Oscar Fjord . The island is part of the Northeast Greenland National Park . Named by Alfred Gabriel Nutgorst during the 1899 expedition in honor of his wife Amy Rafael (briefly Ella) Vindal (1858-1936).

History
Lage Koch had a hut called the Eagle's Nest on the north coast of the island. The nerd Torvald Sorensen lived here from 1931 to 1935. The results of the observations formed the basis of his doctoral dissertation in 1941.
During World War II , the U.S. Army had a facility on the island called the Bluie East Four . [one]
In 1971, a meteorite classified as L-6 chondrite was found on the island [2] .
