History
The exact date of foundation of the Savelyev farm is not known for certain. Popular legend says that on the banks of the small steppe river Kagalnik , a tributary of the Don, a Cossack named Savely, who was an associate of Stepan Razin , once settled. Therefore, we can assume that if the farm was named after the first settler, then it was founded around the middle of the 17th century .
On the other side of the Kagalnik river there were several houses and busbars , which were contained by a certain grandmother Gapka. By the name of the grandmother, the Gapkin farm was subsequently named.
In archival documents dated January 1, 1918, the Savelyev farm, along with the Belyansky, Viflashi, Gapkin, Dubentsev, Yermilov, Karnaukhov, Kandakov, Kukhtachev and Morozov farms, was included in the yurt of the village of Nikolaev, which in turn belonged to the Don district.
Before the Revolution of 1917, the local Cossacks had their allotments of land in the Savelyev farm, and only men could own it. Worked in the fields for several families together. The main tools were: horse plow, stone threshing rollers and harrow. They worked mainly on bulls and horses, seeds were sown manually. Mowed vegetation with hand braids too.
The years of collectivization were difficult for the farm. Many residents opposed joining the collective farms .
The year 1933 was also difficult for the inhabitants of local farms: a great famine broke out . People hardly survived until the next harvest, some died [1] .
