Village History
The village of Blyudau probably existed earlier than Fishhausen (Primorsk) and was first mentioned on May 3, 1258. The castle wall to the South-East of the village suggests the old Prussian past of the village. In 1906, at the foot of the mound, located near the village, they discovered an Old Prussian cemetery with rich finds, among which were the burials of horse riders.
The name of the village comes from the surname of the Teutonic knight German von Blyudau, who came from the Czech Republic or Moravia to Prussia. His descendants dedicated their lives to serving the church. Herman's son, Jacobus, in 1344 was appointed Bishop of Zamland personally by Pope Clement VI, and after his death, was buried in the Königsberg Cathedral on January 20, 1358. [2]
Blyudau was a prosperous farming village in the Zemland district. Elementary school was founded in 1719. In 1841, the school had at its disposal two administrative buildings, which, like the teacher’s house, have not been preserved to this day. In 1890, the settlement was connected to telegraph communication.
By 1939, 637 inhabitants lived in Blyudau, at the end of 1945 there were 11 households, 2 of which were commodity. Since January 30, 1945, the population had to be evacuated, due to the proximity of the front line. [3]
