Ramon II was the eldest son of Count Bernatus I , after whose death in 950 or 956 he inherited the county of Ribagors . Probably, Ramon's co-ruler was his cousin Guillaume I, the son of Miro I, mentioned in some documents as the Count of Ribagorsa.
Count Ramon II is known mainly only as the patron and benefactor of churches and monasteries that were in his possession. Already in 956, Ramon facilitated the transfer of the episcopal residence of the Pallars diocese to the territory of his county, under which he transferred the large church of San Vicent [2] that he had just built in memory of his dead father in the city of Roda de Isabena . Consent to the transfer of the center of the Pallars diocese was obtained from Archbishop Narbon Aymerik , head of the metropolis , which included all the dioceses of Catalonia [3] . At the place of the new residence, the diocese was called the bishopric of Rod . The diocese was headed by the youngest of the sons of Ramon II, Bishop Odesind. The transfer of the center of the Pallars bishopric to the county of Ribagorsu significantly reduced the pressure exerted on this diocese by the bishops of Urgell , who demanded the return of the lands belonging to the bishopric of Pallars to their jurisdiction. At the same time, the existence of an independent diocese on the territory of Ribagorsa significantly increased the authority of local counts among other Catalan rulers. The text of the donation charter given by Ramon II to the church of San Vicente de Roda on December 1, probably 957, indicates that at that time the Count of Ribagorsa recognized as his overlord only the king of the West Frankish state of Lothar .
In 958, Count Ribagorsa gave a charter to the Lavash monastery, transferring some lands to him and granting immunity from representatives of secular authorities. The last time Count Count Ramon II is mentioned in a document dated 960. It is assumed that he could have died either in this or in the year 970, when he was named dead in the charter given by his sons. Ramon II was succeeded by his eldest son, Unifred I, whose co-rulers were his younger brothers Arnau I and Isarn I.

Notes
- ↑ A number of historians call the first Count of Ribagorsa, named Ramon ( Fr. Raimund), Count of Toulouse Raimund I. Therefore, in some sources (mainly of Catalan origin) Ramon, son of Bernat I, is referred to as Ramon III.
- ↑ The church was dedicated to St. Vincent of Zaragoza .
- ↑ Archbishop Aymerik personally participated in the consecration of the church of San Vicente de Roda.
