General Information
The city of Gursi is located in the northern part of the country, at an altitude of 305 m above sea level [1] . It is the main city located in the northern region of the province of Zondoma . In the city commune, consisting of 5 sectors and 38 villages adjacent to them, 80,689 people live (according to the 2006 census) [2] , mainly representatives of the Mosi people. The current mayor is Dominic Ouedraogo.
Gursi is located on the highway connecting Ouagadougou with the territory of Mali . The main occupation of local residents is agriculture. In the past, Gursi was the capital of the West African state of Yatenga .
