Born May 5, 1943 [1] in the city of Linares ( Jaen Province, Andalusia ). In 1946, his family moved to Madrid .
One of the first contemporary singers in Spain to enter the pop stages of the world. Rafael began to sing at the age of three, at the age of four he sang in the choir. In his homeland he is called the Nightingale and Divas of Linares . At the age of nine in Salzburg ( Austria ), his voice was recognized as the best in Europe .
Raphael gained immense popularity in Latin America . In 1975, he hosted his own television show, where he met and sang with prominent stars of the world. Together with his wife Natalia Figueroa, he also had his own radio program. He and his wife gave birth to children Jacobo, Alejandra and Manuel.
The music film “ Let They Speak ” ( 1968 ) brought the singer great popularity in the USSR. After such success, the Melody company, licensed by Hispavox (Spain) , released the double album Rafael Sings (C 04603-4, C 04605-6) in 1974, which was in high demand .
In addition, he holds 49 “platinum”, 327 “gold” discs and one “uranium”, symbolic keys to New York , Los Angeles , Chicago and Miami .
Raphael continued his creative activity for many years. In 2009, he began a many-month tour of the world with the program "50 years on stage." As part of this tour, he also visited Moscow . Discs with the recording of this program became platinum in a number of countries .

- ↑ At the beginning of his career, Rafael often called in an interview a different date - 1945. But in the book Linares y sus famosos (Linares and His Celebrities), published in 1971, a photocopy of Raphael’s birth certificate was published, showing his real date of birth, 1943. The same document can now be seen in the Raphael Museum in Linares.
