House Kommenzh; ( fr. Maison de Comminges , Occit. Ostal de Comenge ) is a noble French family, possibly a branch of the Gascon house , whose representatives were the rulers of a number of estates in Gascony , Languedoc and Catalonia - counties Commenges , Bigorre , Upper Paliars , Viscountry of Cusseran and several other . Sometimes it, together with the house of Foix-Carcassonne, is combined into the house of Commenge-Carcassonne-Foix ( fr. Maison de Comminges-Carcassonne-Foix ).

Origin
The origin of the Commenge house is closely related to the history of Commenge County , which stood out from the Vaskon Duchy in the 9th century . There is a genealogical reconstruction of the origin of the genus made by J. de Jurgen on the basis of onomastic data, however, it is practically not documented. According to this reconstruction, representatives of the Foie-Carcassonne clan, as well as the de Commenge clan, are descendants of Asnar Sansha (d. 836), count of Vasconia with 820. His probable son, according to the studies of Jurgen, was Garcia , 1st Earl of de Commenges . It is mentioned in Acts 833 and 846. Jurgen indicates that Garcia died around 890, but it is not known on what sources he bases this assumption [1] .
The difficulty in establishing kinship between individual representatives of the clan also lies in the fact that the counts passed the county of Commenge to their younger sons. Basically, for early graphs, the relationship between them is determined on the basis of onomastic data. The history of Commenz counts becomes more reliable in the X century . In the middle of the 10th century, 2 brothers were mentioned, Arno I (d. Before 957) and Roger I (d. Before 949). The name of their father is not reported in the sources, however, according to Jurgen, they could be the sons of Asnar III (d. C. 940), who was Count Commenge with c. 935 years . They owned two parts of Commenge County. Roger eventually became the ancestor of the Commenge clan. Arnaud, who owned part of Kommenge and Cuseran, was the founder of the house of Foie-Carcassonne.

History
Viscount Branch Cousran
In 1180, from the part of Cusseran, which was part of Commenges county, the Viscountry of Cusseran was created, which was transferred to Roger I , brother of Count Comenage Bernard IV . It consisted only of the upper Cusserand without Saint-Lisieux and Saint-Girona .
The son of Roger I, Roger II, through marriage in 1217, annexed the Catalan county of Upper Paljars to his possessions. But after the death of about 1257, Roger III , son of Roger II, his possessions were divided. Couzeran was inherited by his eldest son, Roger IV , who, through marriage, also inherited the lord Montespan . Younger sons ruled in the county of Upper Paljars. Of these, Count Arnaldo Roger I (d. 1288), married to the daughter of Emperor Nicaea Theodore II Laskaris , left only his daughters.
The descendants of Roger IV further increased their holdings. His grandson, Raimund Roger II , through marriage in 1360 inherited the Viscountry of Brunickel , which was allocated to his youngest son, who became the founder of the Viscount branch of Brunickel. The grandson of Raimund Roger II, Jean Roger in 1432, through marriage, inherited the Viscountry of Terrid and Jimot .
In 1453, the county of Commenges, after the death of Count Mathieu de Foix , who left no heirs, was included in the royal domain. At that time, the Viscountry of Cusserand, subordinate to Kommenju, also became part of the domain, however, Jean Roger retained ownership rights. After his death, possessions and titles were inherited by his daughter, Mate , who married Ed II de Loman , Senora de Fimarcon. However, their descendants of the Viscount title of Cusérand were not inherited, bearing the title of Viscounts of Terrid and Jimot.
The title of the Viscounts de Cusseran eventually passed to the descendants of one of the sons of Jean II de Foix (d. 1480), Senor de Rabat, and Eleanor de Commenge, daughter of the Viscount Raimund Roger III.
