Fomin, Mitya

Born January 17, 1974 in the city of Novosibirsk ^[2] .

Father - Anatoly Danilovich Fomin (August 18, 1939 - February 20, 2014), candidate of technical sciences, was an assistant professor at the Novosibirsk Electrotechnical Institute of Communications , director of the Regional Center for Labor Protection in the Siberian Federal District ^[3] .

Mother - Tamara Pavlovna Fomina (born 1942), patent engineer.

Regarding parents, he said:

My parents always trust me very much about what I do in life. I realized this when I was 20 years old, I was a 3rd year student at a medical institute and decided that I needed to go to the USA and record my own music [4] .

Sister Svetlana, after graduating from the Novosibirsk , and then the Milan Conservatory, works in an ancient music ensemble, lives in Italy .

In his own words, Dmitry always knew who he would be and from childhood he played as an artist, he constantly sang to pop records. With graduation, Dmitry entered the Novosibirsk Medical Institute . He will later say in an interview about this:

However, barely starting to study, Mitya took an academic leave ^[2] and went abroad at the invitation of his English friends. In England , and then in the USA, Dmitry undertook any work to earn a living, he studied English . At that time, he became acquainted with the musical theater and began to write music himself. A year later, Mitya returned to Russia ^{[2] as an} already formed personality. He continued to study as a physician, but understood that being a doctor was not his calling. A few weeks before the state exams, he took an unexpected step: he left his hometown in Moscow to start his life “from scratch” and realize his long-standing dream of entering a theater university ^[2] .

Mitya successfully passed the first stage of the qualifying rounds at once in several universities: VGIK , GITIS , Shchepkinsky Theater School and the Moscow Art Theater School . Then he returned to Novosibirsk, passed state examinations, received a pediatrician’s diploma , the next day he returned to Moscow and entered the VGIK acting faculty, where the competition was 70 people per place. This incident surprised even VGIK teacher Alexei Batalov , who mentioned Fomin’s entry in an interview ^[6] .

Having settled in Moscow, Mitya very soon met his old friends from Novosibirsk - producer Eric Chanturia and composer Pavel Yesenin . They invited him to become a soloist in a new musical project called " Hi-Fi " ^[2] .

1998-2008: Hi-Fi Frontman

August 2, 1998 is the official birthday of the Hi-Fi music band. The songs “Not Given”, “Homeless”, “Forgive” from “ First Contact ”, the band's debut album, quickly made it popular and brought the album to high positions in Russian charts . The successful start of a creative career and a busy tour schedule forced Mitya to quit VGIK . Fomin recorded vocals only in the first three songs of the group, which then did not please Pavel Yesenin, because of which he began to record instead of Mitya.

The career of the singer in the Hi-Fi group was delayed for 10 years . During this time, the group released four albums, recorded such famous songs as “The Black Raven”, “Silly People”, “And We Loved”, “The Seventh Petal”, “We Are Not Angels” and traveled all over the country with concerts ^[2] . At the end of 2008, Mitya decided to leave the Hi-Fi group, having come to the conclusion that he needed to develop further on his own, especially since there were a lot of prerequisites for this. While still a member of the collective, Mitya began to collaborate with several authors, record songs and prepare a solo program.

On January 1, 2009, Mitya ended a contract with a Hi-Fi group, which he did not renew.

2009—2010: Beginning of solo activity and first album

For two months after the breakup of the group, Mitya formed a creative team, recorded songs and toured successfully, but at the same time he understood that without a good, progressive producer it would be difficult for him to attract listeners and get into the charts. So, on March 1, 2009, Dmitry’s cooperation with producer Maxim Fadeev officially began. Of all the material with which Fomin came to him, Maxim chose the song “Two Lands”, and at the end of March the song premiered on the radio station “ Russian Radio ”. Shortly after the premiere, a video clip appeared, shot by the young director Yevgeny Kuritsin under the supervision of Maxim Fadeev. The clip reached number one on the MTV Russian Ten chart. The collaboration between Fomin and Fadeev lasted exactly six months, and on September 1, Mitya stopped working on a promising contract. The gap took place by mutual agreement.

In January 2010, the second solo single of the singer was released - "That's all." For 7 months of rotation, the song sounded on radio stations more than 350 thousand times ^[7] and lasted 19 weeks in the country's main hit parade “ Golden Gramophone ”, rising to the 2nd line of the chart ^[8] .

On June 14, 2010, Mitya’s third single “ Everything will be fine ”, also released in the English version entitled “Ok!”, Starts. The song immediately hits the “ Russian Radio ”, “ Europe Plus ”, “ Hit FM ” and many other major domestic radio stations, thus rising to the third line in the “ official Russian radio chart ” ^[9] . At the end of 2010, Mitya received the Golden Gramophone national music award for 22 weeks on the chart with this composition. The video clip filmed on the Mediterranean Sea in the waters of the Greek islands is the debut for the singer as a director. The rapper StuFF also took part in the video, which the singer at that time produced ^[2] .

In the summer of 2010, Mitya Fomin's debut album, “ So It Will Be ”, was released. The album received mostly mixed reviews from critics: described as “dimensionality, relaxation, chill-out , ambient , easy dance”. Critics also called Fomin “a singer who respects proportions and acts according to the technology of the Hi-Fi group, without going to extremes” ^[10] .

September 18, 2010 Mitya will debut as the host of the TV program “ Tophit Chart” of the federal music television channel Muz-TV .

2010–2013: Second studio album “Insolent Angel”

In October 2010, the singer’s video for the song “Wintered” was shot, which became the first single in support of the singer’s future second album, “Insolent Angel”. The director again became Mitya.

At the end of March 2011, the song “ City Lights ” followed, with the participation of the British pop group Pet Shop Boys . The video for her was shot in St. Petersburg and in Cuba , in Havana . He was able to lead the "Russian Chart" of the Muz-TV channel, and the song itself received the Golden Gramophone national music award for 27 weeks on the chart.

June 21, 2011 - Mitya becomes a laureate in the “Fashion Breakthrough” nomination for the annual Fashion People Awards ceremony in the field of fashion.

In July, the first part of the video for the song “Not a Mannequin” was shot in Hong Kong together with Russian singer Kristina Orsa. The remaining shootings took place in Moscow . Unlike his previous videos, in which Mitya himself directed , the work on this video was entrusted to a professional film crew led by Marat Adelshin. The premiere of the clip took place in mid-October 2011. According to the artist, the clip for this song has become one of the most expensive for his entire career ^[11] .

On October 1, 2011 Mitya was immediately presented in two categories of the first Russian music award “RU.TV” - “Best Ringtone” and “Real Parish”. As a result, the singer wins the nomination “Real Parish” (breakthrough of the year) ^[12] .

On October 21, the song "Gardener" was launched on radio stations, which was included in Mitya's debut album, " So It Will Be ." Later, an English version appeared called “Beautiful Rose”.

On November 17 in Minsk, at the State Belarusian Circus, the premiere of the artist’s new project, the musical and circus performance “Everything Will Be Alright”, took place ^[13] .

On April 24, 2012, the single “ Good Song ” was released. Later, the premiere of the video took place, where the singer Christina Orsa took part, who had to work with Fomin not the first time.

On November 5, Russian Radio hosted the premiere of a joint work between Mitya and DJ Leonid Rudenko - Orient Express.

On May 6, 2013, the release of the singer’s second studio album “ Insolent Angel ” was released on the iTunes Store , it included all the previous released singles, as well as eight solo video clips.

Work on the third album

The artist did not stop on the release “ Insolent Angel ” and immediately after it released the single “Home”, recorded together with DJ Kirill Clash (Kirill Clash). The composition was not included in the previously mentioned collection and is rightfully considered the first single in support of the future third studio album. Later, a slower version of the single was released - “Guitar Version”, which allowed to get into the radio chart of the portal “ Tophit ”. The premiere of the clip took place on October 3, 2013. The video was attended by a television and radio host, model and actress Victoria Bonya .

The artist devotes a lot of time and effort to charity work: he supports the activities of the Life Line Fund for the Salvation of seriously ill children, and is the curator of the Northern Crown charity. Repeatedly traveled to Chechnya, Dagestan, where a series of his concerts took place. In the fall of 2013, during one of these trips, Mitya was awarded the medal “For Distinction in Service,” and repeatedly received gratitude for his contribution to cultural and educational work. ^[fourteen]

April 22, 2015 Mitya Fomin made the premiere of a new author's project - the video play “Songs of Spring, Love and Victory”, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the great holiday, which took place at the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War on Poklonnaya Hill. The artist prepared for the guests of the evening a real music show and, presenting himself in a new role, opened to the audience from a completely unexpected direction. The beloved songs of the war years performed live to the accompaniment of musicians by everyone - a new, very bright, ambitious and, definitely, successful role of the artist. After the concert, this was noted by both people who first met with the work of Mitya, and his long-time and devoted fans. The main guests of the evening, of course, are veterans - it was for them, first of all, that they were preparing, their mood and impressions were the most important. After the first few compositions, they already sing with the artist - and this is perhaps the main and most significant result of the evening. ^[19]

On April 24, 2015, the premiere of the new video by Mitya Fomin “This is how I love you.” Filming took place in Florence ( Tuscany , Italy ), and the singer himself again directed. The main role in the video was played by Ksenia Oleshko, who has been familiar to the audience since the time “Everything will be fine”, Mitya's former Hi-Fi colleague, her first and most striking soloist. In his directorial work, Mitya Fomin is not afraid to experiment with genres, he defines the artistic style of this video as a modern fairy tale or contemporary fantasy. ^[twenty]

On October 19, 2015, on the air of Russian Radio, the premiere of yet another musical novelty from Mitya, Alien Dreams, took place. ^[21] Soon, the single was supported by other radio stations. Working on his third solo album, Fomin increasingly turns to the work of novice authors, noting that youth and creative hunger have always been the engines of the creative process. Unlike the vast majority of his videos, this time Mitya refused the role of director, turning to Taras Golubkov and ICONA Creative Agency. The shooting took place in Kiev. Ukraine was not chosen by chance - the artist always with great respect for the creative potential of this country. Technically, the director’s idea was helped by special video graphics and animation. The video talks about how important it is to be in love, how it transforms and the world begins to play with new colors if you love and love. ^[22] On October 30, the All-Russian premiere of this work in the program “Order Table” on the channel RU.TV was held . ^[21]

On November 19, 2015, the 3rd annual Real Prize of the MusicBox music television channel was held at the State Kremlin Palace. Fomin with the single “So I Love You” won the DANCE YEAR nomination. ^[23]

On November 20, 2015, in the Big Petrovsky Hall of the President Hotel in Moscow, Dmitry Anatolyevich Fomin received a public award established by the Council for Public Awards of the Russian Federation as a medal for professional achievements and outstanding services to society as part of the All-Russian public campaign “Professionals of Russia”. The artist admitted that it was a great honor for him to be in the same room with such outstanding people of our country. ^[24]

On November 20, in honor of World Children's Day, the performer presented his joint work with Igor Krutoy ’s Academy of Popular Music - a video for the song “New Day”, which became the anthem of the Northern Crown charitable foundation, the release of which is timed to coincide with the fund’s fifteenth anniversary. Igor Yakovlevich himself took part in the filming, decorating the video with his brilliant piano playing. ^[25]

And on November 22, 2015, Mitya received another Golden Gramophone figurine at the 20th anniversary ceremony of presenting the national music award in St. Petersburg for his hit “Everything will be fine”. ^[24]

Since June 2015, she has been the guest editor of the Psychology rubric of the HELLO.RU electronic journal. And this is no accident: Mitya was able to combine work with her studies and graduate from the psychological faculty of the Humanitarian-Economic and Technological Institute (GETI). ^[26] Therefore, now he is not only a popular artist, but also a certified psychologist. ^[27]

Sergey Shtepa and Nikita Lukyanov, musicians of the MF DrumShow drum show, became laureates of the MusicBox 2016 Real Prize in the nomination “Musicians of the Year”. This special nomination was first introduced in 2016 and was immediately awarded to charismatic musicians from the team of Mitya Fomin. ^[28]

On May 30, 2016, the artist presented a video for the song "Follow the Sun." The filming of the new video artist took place in the United Arab Emirates . Director Taras Golubkov’s lens captures the magnificent views of the recently opened Palazzo Versace Hotel, the urban landscapes of the metropolis and the beauty of the sandy desert of Rub al-Khali . This extravagant, phantasmagoric video in the best traditions of pop art with bright, charismatic characters is intended to become a real hymn to the sun, summer, humor, love of life. The decoration of the new video was the TV presenter, the ambassador of the World Cup 2018, “Miss Russia” Victoria Lopyreva . ^[29]

In 2016, Fomin again became the laureate of the Golden Gramophone national music award. This time, the award was awarded to the singer for his single “Aliens Dreams” by the young composer Maria Kudryavtseva. ^[thirty]

In November 2016, a new composition “Find and not to lose” was presented (the premiere of the video took place on March 20, 2017), and the release date of the album was announced - December 2, 2016 and its name - “Tomorrow will be different.”

At the end of 2016, the Golovinsky District Court of Moscow deprived Dmitry Fomin of a driver’s license for a year and a half for driving while intoxicated ^[31] .

December 8 at the Theater Center "On Strastnoy" a solo acoustic concert was held by Mitya Fomin, dedicated to the release of the third studio album of the artist with the same name. The viewer first heard familiar melodies in the acoustic sound. Concert-recognition, concert-revelation: one of the brightest pop-heroes of the dance stage that evening exchanged the club scene for a theater platform, and the dance mood inherent in his work for harmonious, lyrical, filigree acoustic arrangements. ^[32]

On April 12, 2017, Mitya Fomin presented the new acoustic program “Tomorrow will be different” already in the Diplomatic Hall of the State Kremlin Palace . The Moscow concert gave rise to the great charity tour of Mitya Fomin in the Far East , which took place from April 16 to 28, 2017. The tour was supported by the All-Russian Charity Fund “Life Line”, whose ambassador the artist has been for 9 years. ^[33]

Однако в устрашающем, красноволосом Джокере — главном герое видео — многие узнали Митю Фомина. Релиз нового клипа Митя приурочил к Хэллоуину. Поклонники его новую работу восприняли неоднозначно. Кто-то хвалит за смелость, неординарность и готовность к экспериментам, а кто-то требует вернуть любимого артиста в прежнем облике. Сам Митя признается, что поводов для беспокойства нет, он пребывает в прежнем виде, а FOMKA — его alter-ego, живущее своей жизнью, не пересекаясь с привычным образом. ^[35]

Новые проекты

С 7 апреля 2017 года Митя Фомин еженедельно расставляет отечественных исполнителей по местам в качестве ведущего «Русского чарта» на телеканале Муз ТВ . ^[37]

Возвращение в Hi-Fi

В апреле 2018 года Митя Фомин, Тимофей Пронькин и Оксана Олешко впервые за 10 лет вышли на сцену «Олимпийского» в золотом составе группы «Hi-Fi». Сергей Жуков пригласил их выступить в качестве гостей в рамках концерта « Руки вверх! ". На следующий день после выхода интервью в эфир Митя Фомин сразу же попал в базу данных украинского сайта «Миротворец» по причине сознательного незаконного нарушения украинской государственной границы (выступления в Крыму) ^[41] .

Позднее музыкант заявил, что не испытывает опасений по поводу того, что Украина теперь внесёт его в «чёрный список» и запретит въезд на свою территорию. По словам Фомина, тот факт, что Крым принадлежит России, является непреложным, свои слова забирать назад он не собирается, а обижаться на соответствующее заявление как минимум странно ^[42] .
