Content
History
The club was founded on April 18, 1945. The six - time champion of Romania - 1947, 1948, 1950, 1954, 1969, 1970. This is the third figure among the current Romanian clubs after Steaua and Dynamo . Silver medalist - 1972. Bronze medalist - 1953. Two-time winner of the Romanian Cup - 1948, 1953. The team made its debut in European cups in the 1969/70 season in the Champions Cup in matches against the Polish “ Legia ”, and if UTA lost at home with a minimum score ( 1-2), then at the exit 0-8 was defeated. This is the biggest defeat of the Romanian clubs in European competition. The club achieved its greatest success in the 1971/72 season of the UEFA Cup , where it reached the quarter finals and lost to the English Tottenham Hotspur (0-2 and 1-1) in the total of two matches. The team spends home games at the Francis von Noumann stadium, which seats 7,000 spectators.
