Career
In 1975 he moved to Aston Villa from the Scottish Dundee United . He played 4 seasons in it. December 15, 1975 played the first match for Scotland. The 1976/77 season was very successful in his career, during which he, together with the team, won the League Cup, and together with MacDonald became the top scorer of the season, scoring 29 goals.
In the same year he received the PFA award as a player of the year, as well as a young player of the year. And he became the first football player to receive these two prizes in one year, and one of the three, along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale , who received 2 prizes in one year, in the entire history of its existence. Andy Gray also became his team's top scorer next season. Speaking for Dundee United, he was Scotland's top scorer in the 1974/75 season.
In 1979 he was sold to Wolverhampton . With the new club, he won the League Cup in 1980. From 1983 to 1985 he played for Everton , with whom he won the FA Cup in 1984, scoring a goal in the final, and a year later became the champion of England and the winner of the Cup of Cups, also scoring a goal in the final. In 1985, he returned to Aston Villa, but he no longer showed the same performance as before. In 1987 he was leased to the Notts County . Then he played for West Bromwich Albion and Rangers.
