The Bavarian State Opera ( German: Bayerische Staatsoper ) is a German opera house located in Munich .

The opera was founded in 1653 . Together with the Bavarian State Ballet , her repertoire includes nearly 350 opera and ballet performances per year. Performances take place at the Munich National Theater , which is located on Max Josef Square, as well as at the Prinzregententheater and the Old Theater in the residence ( Alten Residenztheater (Cuvilliés-Theater) ). For the first time in June 2010, performances were held in a temporary pavilion for the Munich Opera Festival (2010). Musical accompaniment is played by the Bavarian State Orchestra . Since 1875, the Munich Opera Festival has been held . One of the most important music festivals in the world.
The musical director of the Bavarian State Opera is conductor Kirill Petrenko [1] . In 2020, Vladimir Yurovsky will become the music director of the band [2] .
